How It Works
-
Sustainability is a global concern – affecting not just aviation, but every industry. Existing security seals are having a disastrous effect on the environment:
6.7 million tons of single-use plastic waste was generated by airlines in 2018.
According to IATA – security seals made up a significant portion.
More than three quarters of passengers would feel better about flying if it did not involve any single-use plastics. (IATA passenger insights survey, Nov 2023).
-
Our fully integrated system uses digital sealing technologies to provide a reusable alternative and long-term solution to the airline industries sustainability issues.
-
The manual single-use system is wasteful, time consuming, and undermined by human error:
Manifests can only be created if galley carts and canisters are properly sealed; and poor handwriting can render important manifests unreadable.
Storage and disposal of plastic tags is subject to extensive regulations.
Lengthy investigations into theft and shrinkage are costly.
-
SAFTA+ integrates seamlessly with third-party platforms like Omnevo and O2P. Airlines can keep their current POS system, whilst enjoying numerous additional benefits:
Automatic creation of seal numbers and 100% accurate manifests.
Batch sealing – securing multiple carts and canisters at once.
No more external storage costs or tedious audit requirements.
Attrition rates for lost or damaged carts and canisters can be tightly controlled.
A secure global database, where you can digitally check seal integrity across an entire fleet of galley carts – even when they are out of the line of sight.
-
In-flight thefts are a growing concern for the airline industry. Single-use plastic seals are wholly unsuited to tackling the problem:
Easy to counterfeit.
Easier to cut open.
No way of knowing who has sealed or unsealed the container, and little evidence of when or where a theft occurred.
-
Only authorised staff can seal or unseal carts and canisters. A ‘tamper alert’ warning is displayed whenever an unauthorised attempt is made to open a cart or canister.
Protecting crew members against false allegations.
Only authorised staff can seal or unseal containers.
